Send me a picture or short video of something that brings out a mathematical question. Something in your everyday life. For example, what question comes to mind when you see this picture??
... I think most people would likely ask "how many pennies are in there?" or "how much money"
So please take a picture of something you see in everyday life that makes you ask a question that can be answered with math, or science. Please email it to me, and I will either post it, or compile it into a database.
Please do not take pictures off of the internet, I want these to be pictures you have taken, and make sure they are school appropriate.

i couldnt upload a picture onto this page, but i uploaded the picture on my photobucket. This picture was taken over the summer and when i read the assignment, this picture just sounded like the perfect idea in my head.

This picture makes me question two things, which is:
1) How far up are the fireworks?
2) how many stars are in the sky?

this pic make me have 2 question how much snow is it to able to cover the car and the ground?
and how can u measure snow?
This was at my trip to Austria.
ReplyDeleteThese questions can be associated with math because...
1. What is the slope of this mountain?
2. If you made the graph look like a triangle, you can find the sin, cos, tan of the triangle....
3. What is the altitude of this mountain?

Anyways.. my two questions are..
1. How many boba bubbles are in the bubble tea?
[boba is the black bubble jelly things on the bottom of the coffee]
2. A scientific question .. are the calories lower if ice is added in or no?
Me and my father have a sort of love for fans, so I took a picture of mine. Simple, but effective.

It makes me wonder three questions:
1. What is the total area of the fan when it's spinning?
2. How many boxes are on the fan?
3. Is there a math equation that can help solve this?
