(things that were speedily running thru my head as i watches this) WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!! SHE'S SOOOO SMART! SHES TALKING SOOO FAST SHE *MUST* BE SMART! PLUS HER VOICE IS SOO FUN TO LISTEN TO!! bottom line this girl is way cool & i would hang out with her 4 ever, just in hopes that some of her smartness would maybe rub off on me xD i mostly didn't understand much of what she said (also how i know shes smarter than me :]) but it did look somewhat easier when you used tau, however she probably could have said a whole bunch of smart words & gotten me 2 jump off a cliff too ;D
Welll wow.. why is that they always lie to us when we are young? ... Tooth Fairy, Santa, Easter Bunny, and now Pi!!! gosh,... what is this world coming to? but seriously ... if pi is obviously wrong, why do we still use it??? ... its CLEARLY obvious that TAU is the new in .. and.. and it makes more sense ... also i believe we (Mr.Franks class) should celebrate pi day(3.14) .. because we can celebrate it , and i don't think anyone will be here to celebrate Tau day(6.28).. well i wont atleast.. but hey ... im in favor for tau... but MR.Frank.. does this mean we STILL have to use Pi..? .. i really don't feel like it anymore.. Tau is clearly .. easier.. and better .. and shorter :3 :D
What I got from the video was that when graphing a circle using a the radius and Pi, the number you get (i.e. 1/8) is actually 1/16 because Pi is just weird. However, Tau is more straightforward, and skips the 2Pi step because Tau=2pi (6.28). Notably, she says that a full 360 degree circle, no matter what is actually 2pi, which I don't get.
If Pi (as we know it) is not right, then why were we even taught it in the first place? This just completely confused me. From this video I got that Tau=2Pi, just as everyone else did, but what I don't understand is why 1Pi is NOT 2Pi when she, herself, said that 1Pi is really 2Pi. AND either way I consider 1Pi and 2Pi, or Tau, the same since 1Pi=3.14 and 2Pi=6.28 - If she says that Pi is in fact the ratio of a circles circumference to its diameter, then why is that concept (the Pi concept) STILL wrong?
wow that was a lot. so in this video she makes it seem like Tau is an easier concept to understand rather than Pi is, but it really depends on the teacher so in class will we be doing the graphs and equations using tau or Pi or will it be up to us?
We will still be studying Pi because it is standard. But it is interseting to think about. Tau might be easier to deal with and to understand. It might make other concepts more complcaited, but I think overall it would be easier for students to understand.
Pi is not wrong by the way. It is just a dicussion of which one would be a better measurement for math to use to study circles.
very interesting, but if we are still using "pi" then who will use "tau"? and therefore, is tau easier than pi? yes,but i still don't get the concept very well.
♂Ok so, first of all that was just way to much information to sink in, in five minutes¡! But some of the stuff that i got from this video is that "Christopher Columbus is a Jerk", Pie doesn't = to Pie and that Tau = 2 Pie.(¿¿ Is anyone else confused??)another thing why is this the first time am hearing about Tau. If Tau is the same as two Pie then Pie is equal to Tau/2 right, so wouldn't it be easier to just substitute Pie with 2 Pie or Tau and forget that Pie doesn't = to Pie,for example instead of A=Pie,R,squared it would be A=2Pie,R,Squared or A=T,R,squared??? Think about it, but not too much, you'll get a headache.
first off all the pie in this video distracted me from the number pi. this must be the same girl from the video that had to do with soundwaves and mathematics because she sounds/acts the same. She is probably some mathematician genius who subconsciously likes to make other people feel stupid because that is what both of her videos did to me. From what i understand pi (as a concept) has been wrong for a very long time and makes math a whole lot harder than it has to be. if Tau is easier i hope we use it in Mr.Franks class because even though it is easier than pi it still sounds difficult
This girl has so much time on her hands. i mean she made like 1000 pies just now. gosh. anyways this seems extremely confusing probably because we havnt learned it yet and it makes no sense right now. I did get that Tau=2Pi, but everyone did too.. but i also got that this will be incorporated with sin and cos and at least i kinda get a hint of what we'll be doing.
I hope Mr. Frank will teach this nice and easy. ~Nikol Kireva~
Just to clarify. We will not be studying Tau. We will be using pi. I just thought it was an interesting idea. In a few weeks this will make more sense, but I think early exposure to new ideas can be helpful. It may not seem helpful now, but it might help something "click" later on.
So we aren't going to use Tau, but that is still confusing? Because why would anyone want to change pi to Tau? It doesn't make any sense if we we're first taught to use pi changing everything now wouldn't make any sense to anyone and then everything will be confusing, but it is very interesting to know that pi = Tau/2 but yet I'm still confused ?
so watching this twice does not help....haha but I think she was trying to say how Tau= 2pi and that its a more straight forward way of dividing up circles...kinda like the circles we were doing on friday so I'm guessing we are going to connect Pi to the circles instead of using Tau because we aren't going to use Tau. I kind of have to agree with her though on how Tau just looks a lot easier.
This is so confusing.... I think that Tau is just like Pi but double. Obviously since Tau is equal to 2 Pi. What I found that was extremely weird was how can Pi be wrong? If Tau was based on Pi? Hmm.. I would rather use Pi because I have prior knowlege of it, or maybe I'm just too lazy to learn a new concept O_o
This seems very interesting. I feel like I've done this before some maybe it will be good at this. Is this what we will be learning mainly in Calculus ?
.. So like, I don't understand math in general. Not to sound like a negative Nancy or anything.
But anyway, are we using tau now? What is tau? I do not understand but like .. is tau the same thing as pi? Was she using it as a substitute for pi because the concept of pi is "wrong"? .. @.@
You will not be learning about Tau in calculus or precalculus. We will be learning about Pi. It is just intereseting to ask the question "Is there a better idea to use than pi?"
i'm not gonna talk about how incredibly smart she is and confusing the video was because i feel like im gonna be the 346th person to comment on that. But I think her idea of using Tau as a substitute for 2pi is very innovative . I'm not necessarily sure if i agree with her about it being easier because i haven't tested out her theory yet but i do agree that Christopher Columbus is a jerk
Wow, she seems smart. I don't understand the whole "tau" concept but i do see where she's coming from..sorta. ANYwho...pi is something i could deal with, any day. But, i'm not good at math nor have i ever been. And yes, this video is quite confusing.
SO.....were going to use tau?
ReplyDeleteTau does look easier,
but hey, this is what i got from the the video: Tau=2pi
mhhhm, strawberry, that pie looks very delicious....heheh.
ReplyDeleteOkay Tau=2 pi but I still don't understand what Tau is!!

I will DEFIANTLY be joining her 4 Tau day :D
OH...and also, i hate Columbus day too :)

Though informational, the video tells me about Tau, but I don't understand what it actually means. I get that it's 2Pi, how do you use it??
